I visited the museum in February 2021 with my family. I was very excited to show around my kids (came from London) the historical things of our country. I have to sadly say that the staff from the reception to each department was extremely unprofessional. They had no willingness to assist the visitors in understanding the valuable objects, no welcome greetings or a word of courtesy etc. I believe this might not be in their job description but a smile or welcome greeting wouldn’t cost them anything but would definitely leave a friendly impression forever. Staff should be given basic informative training as per their relevant departments. Staff with proper uniforms and museum lanyards would also add great value to the overall quality of the museum. Enriched place to explore cultural heritage of pakistan. It contains history of different religions in sub-continent, story of Muhammed bin qasim, mohenjodaro, harapa, makli, ghandhara and galleries to portray culture and ethnicity of all provinces. It has special section for holy quran written in different writing styles, motifs, gold and colors. It has a hall full of how Pakistan came into being with highlights of national heros and leaders. This place is surrounded by big gardens and statues. Be careful about dogs. This place closes by 4pm and ticket cost is pkr 30 per person for locals and cost around pkr 300 for foreginers. People with wheel chairs may face difficulty because did not notice rampage to go upstairs. Highly recommended place to visit for history lovers and students.

Collect, Preserve & Exhibit Culture

The Museum has a collection of 58,000 old coins (some dating from 74 Al-Hijra), and hundreds of well-preserved sculptures. Some 70,000 publications, books and other reading material of the Archeology and Museums Department were also shifted to the National Museum so that general public could see them. Every year National Museum holds around a dozen exhibitions on National Days and other occasions.
